Can someone please confirm or otherwise to me are all safety harnesses to EN 361 are suitable for both fall restraint and fall arrest? I'm aware that what is attached to the harness in terms of lanyards etc is just crucial but I'm just querying the actual harnesses.

Just done a refresher course on Monday and this came up with various other standards for PPE such as hard hats. Fully body harness is to EN361.

As far as I'm aware, they are both the same. A 'work positioning' harness is different as they usually incorporate some kind of seating arrangement to prevent injuries similar to suspension trauma during the work task. I'm no expert however, you might get somebody with a deeper understanding of fall protection give you the definitive answer

Yes, coming from a MEWP background I can say EN361 is a full body harness and is suitable for fall restraint and fall arrest. What makes the difference is the lanyard.

Thanks for the responses folks. I only work part time so it's Friday afternoon for me and combined with a horrible cold I wasn't sure if my brain was working properly.
