A company I work for are requesting all H&S documents, including risk assessments comply with COSO format. Has anyone else had this request? Would a risk assessment following the COSO format be acceptable?

A Risk Assessment doesn't "follow" COSO "format". Risk Assessment (and controls) are principle framework elements of the COSO system itself. That said (and presuming we're talking about the same thing) I understand that COSO was established to tackle issues associated with financial impropriety and fraud - i.e. a different kind of risk. The link between H&S and Financial Regulation would seem tenuous at best.

In my view threads like this should be pulled by the mods............sigh..............for those of us who don't know, what is COSO?

My assumption is the OP means the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (a US Commission). For something much more intriguing, you might want to Google the "Coso Artifact". All very Erich Von Daniken!

It seems likely that the vast majority of us are not familiar with the COSO acronym and manage to work very satisfactorily without knowing. Even after looking for alternative meanings on the internet after first reading this thread I confess I was no wiser, despite suspecting that Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra was unlikely to be a contender! :-) Irrespective of the fact that today happens to be a Friday, can anyone suggest any wacky/absurd definitions (with or without any OS&H context) for COSO ?!! Hew, my apologies for inciting off-beat responses to your thread. However, any such responses will help to keep your thread on forum page 1 for a while and delay its descent into obscurity on subsequent pages. :-)

The IOSH Discussion Forums can be described as COSO: Collection Of Surprising (or insert any other word beginning with S) Observations.
