Safety is our number one priority" It rolls off the tongue nicely doesn't it?

I don't suppose that there will be too many revelations to many of us but Panorama may be worth a look tonight.

They are looking for a safety manager too – spotted it last week.

Your correct lets watch it first as this looks very typical of 1000s of DC operations in the UK supply chain…………………………………….

Do we really care?

I say this because we still buy shirts and other clothing from third world countries so is there any difference?

the safety of its workers was its "number one priority."

I cringe every time a hear a business say this. The number 1 priority let's all be honest is to make money. Why not admit that, why not have safety as the number one value of the company.

We want to make money but only if we can do it safely

Despite working for a number of corporate companies I have never experienced one where 'safety is their number one priority'. Making a profit is the number one priority. I don't have any issues with this either because no profit equals no job.

The chair of the Health & Safety Executive has repreatedly highlighted her views regarding organisations that state safety is their first priority, it nomrally is not as staying in business mostly is. She is absoluitely clear that safety should be a core value and part of it normal business--refer to second para.
