I have just read the following:-

These Regulations amend the original 2008 Enforcement Regulations for REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) in order to allow second-hand articles containing asbestos to be placed on the market, under conditions that ensure a high level of protection for human health, and to provide for some other miscellaneous amendments.
The marketing of articles containing asbestos is allowed if they were installed or in service before 1st January 2005, and this is carried out in accordance with an asbestos exemption certificate issued by one of the enforcing authorities nominated under the 2008 Regulations.
With thanks to NQA for the heads up.

I thought asbestos was a no-no?
Who bribed which MPs to pass this bill through?
This is the thin end of the wedge the current government is placing on peoples safety.

Rant over .. I think ...

Not a bill as this is created via a statutory instrument, so all that it requires is that is presented to parliament and unless some objects to the legalisation it becomes law after 40 days.
So it's quite cheap to get through as you don't really need to bribe any MPs.
Further more it is related to European law and the EU commission will be keeping an eye on this.
