Hello IOSH world!

I have recently completed my NEBOSH General Certificate and would very much like to begin the transition to working in Health and Safety. I plan to start work on my NEBOSH Diploma within the next couple of months too.

At present I work as a rope access and rope rescue specialist which I will continue to do, I see it as
rather handy skill set to keep sharp! So far most of my work has been in theatres and I suppose I would like to continue working in the Entertainment industry but within the H&S field.

I was wondering if anybody had any advice for getting started? I would quite like to get H&S experience in a similar sphere, such as construction, and am more than happy to embark on a shadowing type deal or a work placement initially. I am London/East Sussex based.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

All the best,
Joe

If you are employed (you don't say) you could become a safety rep or offer to assist your employer's H&S person in some way.

Kate,

Thank you for your response. At present I am self employed so that is not really an option.
