60 years old and due to start a new job in January 2104. In the last 6 years I have been through redundancy and 2 factory closures but have managed to find empoyment in my chosen field every time. If you have the right skill set, attitude and interview technique then age doesn't matter. To all of those out there looking for work, especially those at the older end ----- Keep the faith.

Congrats. At 60 that is some achievement! I do hope you will still be around in 2104 to actually start the new job. Sorry couldn't resist as I keep making the same typo---must be our age :-)

My father always said, you're as old as the woman you feel (but then he was always a so and so!).
I agree, age is just number, attitude goes a long way.

I hope to do something similar after I am forcibly retired from my current position (yes, it still happens), but I'll be a good deal older.

Good one, I retired in June but am totally getting bored with it so am hopeful of a new job, possibly in Australia. This gives me some hope.

Congratulations. There aren't many employers who will look beyond age and see the wealth of experience and skill that comes with age. Congratulations to them too for their sense.

I decided to go part time - my employer wouldn't let me so I quit in May this year. I had a glorious summer with the misses and grandchildren, had a great holiday too.
Got a part time H&S job with a charity and started on 1 Oct. I'm 62 years old!! O I did have a heart attack on the 3rd day but that's another story which has been discussed on the other forum

Nice one Rich, I hope the recovery is going well. My 82 year old dad had a massive heart attack at work when he was 58, had a tripple bypass and was back at work driving bulldozers 8 weeks later. He still drives them now on occasion to help out.

Hi , I feel like the youngster here.
I was 59 before I started my new job role in health and safety, everybody told me I was mad to change jobs at my age.
But I can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did, a bit of a risk but when you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did.

I'm 55, just completed my first safety role and I don't contemplate retiring. It's just so annoying that there are so few jobs out there at the moment.
