Hi all. I'm looking for any recommendations (or products to avoid) for emergency communication devices. I'm concerned both with lone workers being able to raise an alarm to a central point in the building and for first aiders to receive emergency calls identifying where in the building the incident is.
We have about a dozen first aiders and potentially half a dozen lone workers. Everything is in the same building, but the first aiders move about a lot, and the lone workers will be in hidden areas where they can't be seen from outside. I'm looking for something that is very portable, and quick to use, at a reasonable cost for the numbers involved.
All advice about what would or wouldn't suit these needs gratefully received.

Why not try 2 way radios. Quite cheap, rechargeable and would do the job you specify.

And you can get the radio with "man down" system regards Dave

Thanks - ideally I'd like something smaller than a radio as they are a pain to carry around.

I have seen demonstrations of ‘panic buttons’ which are smaller than a two-way radio, but they require a base station to be set up close by and then that base station needs to be wired into the local communications system( eg phone lines). It also requires some one on the end of the system to monitor it and to being a position to do something about this. One advantage of a walkie-talkie is that it broadcasts to everybody who is tuned in and then they all can respond.
