Yes, replace anything that even looks flammable with concrete. Personally I preferred the example of the live pets not being allowed ni schools in case of bird flu.

It's not unusual dah dah de dah.
But don't let's put our backside in the firing line just because the HSE says "safety adviser". That could be anybody and quite probably someone with no formal quals in OSH or fire safety who has simply been 'given' the responsibilty.

I think it's an ingenious way for the 'health and safety advisor' to get their hands on some cheap parquet flooring :)

I know it sounds daft but I can remember having quite a discussion with a fire service who said the cause of a fire involving only a wooden parquet flooring was a discarded cigarette. It was in fact caused by a bag of cloths used with linseed oil self igniting. Perhaps the safety adviser was given some bad advice as the fire was officially recorded as caused by the cigarette.
