Hello, for the first time I may be involved in formulating a method statement for some of our personnel doing hazardous waste waste collections roadside. My query is regarding vehicle authorisation permits (will involve motorway collections) and any specifications I need for our vehicles including signage and flashing lights. Has anyone had any experience with this please as it is new to me??

As the penguin says, have a look at the Traffic Signs Manual Ch 8 for motorways and high speed dual carriageways. Part 1 deals with Design and part 2, operations. Safety at Street Works and Road Works ACoP (there is a new version out) might be more 'useful' for other lower speed roads Also check out the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) Permissions/notifications for some activities might be needed and will vary depending on whether the road is under the control of the Highways Agency (usually motorways and high speed dual) or your local highways authority (usually your County or Unitary Council)
