Can anyone direct me to guidance on the inspection frequency for principal and maintenance inspections of moveable footbridges. Information was not available when the structure became the responsibility for our organisation.

Any help anyone can give will be appreciated.

I'm not sure that I can provide a definitive answer here northeast.

However, having had a quick look at the info that accompanies your avatar "name", could you identify exactly what type of "moveable footbridge" you're considering here please.

Frank.

The bridge carries a pedestrian footbridge over the entrance channel to a dock.

The structure rotates around a bearing point at the north end to allow watercraft to pass through the dock. A second point of support is provided at an intermediate point in the span by a mast and the deck cantilevers from this point across the dock entrance. The south end of the deck is supported by guy cables attached to the mast. The mast is anchored back to the deck at the north end by additional cables.

I have a Maintenance Schedule but wanted to double check whether this adhered to accepted standards or whether a written scheme should be produced.

From the info provided northeast, it appears that your footbridge is probably not subject to any more than PUWER in so far as legislation is concerned.

Therefore, if you have an appropriate [you decide if it's appropriate] formal, documented maintenance schedule it is probably OK.

Given the type of plant described, I would expect there to have been fairly high-competence mechanical engineer input in the selection and installation process; with equally competent input in the drawing up and confirmation of the on-going maintenance schedule.

We cannot tell whether your maintenance schedule is "suitable and sufficient"; and it should be a comprehensive written document anyway.

Hope that helps
