Private Club Responsible Person Fire and H&S

I'm a member of a private squash club. Can the Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order be a management committee with a committee member delegated to manage H&S and fire matters within the club or would an individual committee member need to be identifed as the Responsible Person?

The Responsible Person can be an individual, but in many cases it's a management board or committee, if they have control of the premises.
It doesn't really matter what you decide as ultimately, it's down to the enforcing authority, then the courts to decide.
It may be useful to identify the RP on your fire risk assessment and where necessary, give a rationale/explanation as to how this decision was made

It may also be worth exploring becoming 'incorporated' to protect committee / management individuals from financial liabilities.

As I understand this area of responsibility; it's actually no different to the HSWA S2&3.
Technically, the FSO Responsible Person for an unicorporated body will be the complete Committee - this means that for an unincorporated body the "Board" will then collectively have responsibility.
For an incorporated body that legal entity will be the RP, this will devolve to the "Board" CEO [or local equivalent] unless there are explicit documents that say otherwise.
However, it is normal practice to delegate the day-to-day responsibility to a named post - ie Club Secretary, Club Manager etc. Unless the Articles of Association specifically say otherwise, the "Board" will retain the primary responsibility as the RP.
