Does anyone have any experience of looking after the H&S side of contractors going into end user homes, kitchen related, but no gas or electrical work, these contractors used to be employed by us but are now self employed & have no real knowledge of putting together risk assessments or method statements and we are looking to put some sort of basic H&S pack together for them, both for our benefit and theirs.
Spoke to our insurers and they are happy for us to advise them at arm lengths on what we require but I’m wondering if we should put together the RAMS and get them to read and sign it and then periodically check their performance on site, anybody got any thoughts, what do other companies do ? Thanks

I would suggest that as you are telling them what to do and how to do you should be treating then as employees, (contract not withstanding).
