Hi All,
I am looking for some advice, I need some gloves to protect staff that are undertaking high voltage testing, it is a load test of 10kv, however I need some gloves if possible that allow the operator to be able to continue to work, as they also need to plug in small components.
Hope someone our there can guide me
Cheers
James

I don't think you should be relying on gloves for protection. When testing small relays we interlocked the test voltage with a hinged cover over the test fixture, such that the voltage was only on when the cover was closed.

I agree with still's comment. It is an often overlooked fact that when gloves fail they always fail to danger. If the consequences of a failure could be significant and irreversible, as might be the case here, then you would be wise not to rely on gloves other than as backup protection. In any event, the regulations require that other measures are investigated and, if appropriate, implemented before relying upon PPE. The ACoP for PPE actually states that PPE is to be regarded as a 'last report'. Chris

Sorry! Of course it should have read as 'last resort' Chris

At 10kV, I don't believe you should be relying on gloves. I don't believe that anyone should be in proximity with such voltages.

Are we talking about 10,000v as in car type coils or 10,000v as in blowing brains out? Either one = no fun!
I'm with PS on this one
