Dear all,

I am a graduate member of Iosh and I have gained PGD in Occupational Health & Safety management. I had a career break in 2011 while working as a Health & Safety adviser.

I am looking to return to work; however due to childcare challenges I have decided to start on my own so I can work around the family.
Although my previous role involved a wide range of tasks including undertaking risk assessment, auditing, accident investigations, writing reports, policies and procedures and providing Training.
I am keen to start with training as this area has always been my first love.

I will be very grateful if anyone could advice me on how the market is doing and any additional information that may be helpful.

Counting on your usual support on this fantastic forum.

Thank you

Hi

I am in the process of changing career and it is difficult finding an employer who will take a risk and employ me. I have 11 years teaching construction in an FE establishment, Nebosh certificate , certificate in education, A1 assessor and V1 internal verifier also level 5 diploma in management.I am wanting to branch out dow the she advisor route. If your wanting to work freelance then i would suggest getting on linkedin and getting your name out there. Register with training companies as an associate and get your NEBOSH if you haven,t got it.

hope this is of help and good luck

Hi
I suggest you look into BNI, it is a local based networking group that members use to provide and recommend services to each other. the process gives you a ready market, probably for low level, low risk situations, but then an accountant office safety inspection still helps pay the bills. the extra bonus is that they do not have more than one type of skill / service in each group, so you will not be conflicting with other HSE professionals. Also the members try and put business each others way.
Good luck
Gavin

It’s great that you want move back in your interest area and there many challenges waiting for you. There are many students having distance education and they spend time online to learn. You have to search such people that are more time consuming task but useful. Good Luck!!

Sorry to disagree about BNI, it's great if you want to spend at least £100 a month!!! And can go every week.
We at R.B health and safety in Hainault are seeking new trainers. If we can be of any help

I agree with Bradley about BNI. It is expensive and very strict about weekly attendance. There is also a lot of pressure to provide prospects. I looked into it and it's not for me
