I had to google gas carcass testing to see what it was about.

You need to provide more detail about the location and ownership of the gas pipework/installation. Are you asking as a domestic landlord, small businees, industrial workshop?

The lack of responses to this thread until today suggests that few forum users are acquainted with the term 'gas carcass testing'. I'd never encountered the term before and wondered if it had some connection with the circumstances graphically depicted by the video at

The way in which the marine biologist carried out his task and the fact that everybody else seemed to leave the vicinity beforehand suggest that the outcome wasn't entirely unforeseen! :-)

p.s. It's best not to watch the full length of the video if you are eating or drinking! :-(
