Hi all

I have been in the Oil and Gas industry for 8 years now however I have been promoted through the ranks from Medic to OHS Manager during this time. I am now at a point where I need to fortify my position with a qualification. I am an Australian living abroad and not sure where life will take me from here.

Currently I am completing a Nebosh IGC to get the ball rolling and then looking for a good Internationally recognised qualification after this. NEBOSH qualifications are not generally recognised which is preventing me from considering persuing the diploma.

I am looking for a post grad degree focusing on Health, Safety and Risk management suitable for Oil and Gas/Process industry with a reasonable focus on Safety Case. Any reccomendations?

Heriot-Watt University's Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering (distance learning only) MSc/Diploma could be a potential choice, although I am not aware of any that cover "safety cases" in detail

Thanks Jay.

I should clarify the NEBOSH statement before some people get upset.... NEBOSH is generally not recognised back in Australia in my experience

RGU, Aberdeen have a good distance learning MSc on HSE & Risk management, via their Management School. The course is recognised by IOSH as a suitable qualification, and IOSH qualifications are in turn generally recognised in Australia.

There are also IOSH-recognised courses delivered in Singapore, but not with any particular emphasis on oil & gas, so far as I know. Contacts with the Singapore Branch, if you don't already have them, may help too?
