Hi all,

I am a Grad member of IOSH and am currently seeking employment.

Have tried the usual mix of agencies, cold calling/emailing, magazines, press etc, does anyone have any ideas about another avenue(s) I can explore as I am really eager to get back to work.

Thanks in advance.
Russ

Local authority Web sites and web sites of large employers near you and or employers you would like to work for. There is also a civil service web site, that you can look at by region.

Get to know lots of people. Also something like linkedin.

I'm guessing you have NEBOSH DIP or NVQ ?

What sort of Industry sector are you interested in?

What about your experience? It is very difficult to get a H&S role without experience, no matter how qualified you are.

Cheers Chris, you wouldn't happen to know the name of the Civil Service web site would you?

Yeah I have NVQ4 (gained when there was no nvq5).

As for industry, that's where I am a bit undecided, I have previously provided safety services for many different types of work places ranging from Offices, to retail outlet and even Animal Shelters.

ABSOLUTLY NOT !!!!! That is the most useless web site I have ever come across. I was forced to register (eventually), but refused (as was my right) to let them monitor, though they tried to tell me I must - which turned out to be wrong. If you looked for a particular type of job say H&S manager in a 60 mile radius, it would tell you about cleaning jobs 100 miles away, for min wage and part time hours. Any words I would like to use to describe it, can not be typed into this web site.

The site I referred to was for MOD, DEFRA, Ministry of Defense, National Statistics office etc. There are H&S type jobs occasionally on there (or the used to be).

Chris
