All,
I understand the need for thorough examination of lifting equipment.
But what is common practice with regarding to inspection and maintenance?
I understand this would be based on a risk assessment but would following appear generally appropriate for, for example, axles stands:
Inspection - 3 months ( in-house )
Maintenance and inspection - 6 months ( by qualified contractor )
Thorough examination - Annual ( by qualified contractor )
I'm working on the basis that annual thorough examination on own is not enough - do you think I am correct?

You need a copy of LOLER (Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998)
