Bit of an odd question, but fire door intumescent strips; should they go all around a door, by this I mean on the bottom of the door ? The reason I ask is that I have just noticed that a well known supplier of building goods, sell a door pack which consists of 5 times 1m lengths, which is only enough for the two sides and top? Is there a different arrangement for the bottom of the door (a different product to be purchased) or is considered when the smoke gets to that point, you should be out. This does not seem quite right to me, ie the door can withstand fire for 30 to 60 minutes, but only a couple of minutes smoke. We would obviously need to get someone competent to fit etc but I’m just pricing up the parts and making sure I know what we will be charged for etc. Also now as I have thought about it, to satisfy my own curiosity. Thanks in advance for any knowledge you are willing to pass on. Chris

As smoke usually rises to the ceiling it is considered that the bottom of doors does not require strips hopefully everyone would be out by then. SBH

10mm gap at bottom is what you should be looking for. No seals required.
