Morning All,
I am currently looking for a new role after redundancy, will be receiving my last monthly wage end of this month so need to find a new role asap.
However I don't just want to get into any role as the next one will hopefully be a long term move.
Do people update their LinkedIn to mirror their CV ?
From personal experience have you had many job leads from LinkedIN?

My Linkedin profile covers all that my CV does - you can actually get away with writing more detail on Linkedin.
I get emails approx every 2 weeks or so regarding a job lead (mainly from recruiters...) and had I been in my last job, these would be good leads!
14 months ago, whilst in a role that didn't have the best development opportunities, I received such an email, 13 months ago I joined the company I now work for, on 30% more money and in an international Oil company with excellent development opportunities.
Had it not been for linkedin (and some amount of luck to receive that email, I guess) I would not be where I am now!! Personally, I am internally grateful to linkedin :-)

One more question:
I have gardening leave until end of April.
What shall I put as my employment title, so that people in my network realise I am looking for work without it sounding negative ?

I'd be simply honest. Being made redundant is unfortunately rather common in the current climate. Tell lindedin readers that you are looking for the next position.

I too have received my fair share of interest from recruiters, head hunters etc from them viewing my profile on linked-in. In fact I received a phone call this very morning, the head hunter saw which company I work for and phoned the reception asking to speak with me. So yes, treat your profile as an extension of your CV.

Yes and yes. Linkedin is great for getting your experience out there - I've had some positive results by connecting with recruitment consultants so give that a try.
When I was made redundant I changed my title to "actively seeking new opportunities in....." which seemed to do the trick. You could also email your current contacts and ask them to keep an eye out for you and let you know if they hear of anything.
I eventually got a maternity cover role which has now become a HS&E Manager's role with a fabulous organisation, the opportunity to do my diploma and a definite step onto the H&S career ladder (finally!!).

I'm very happy in my job, been doing it for over 18 years but I still get head hunted via LinkedIn even though I have no intention of moving.
It's a good resource, use it and good luck.

Agree with the previous comments. I get quite regular approaches from recruiters and one day one of them will have that dream job in the sun with 6 days off per week and all the beach time I need!
Also my advice is to keep LinkedIn strictly for business - keep the fun stuff away on other social media sites.

I had a job come through yesterday via LinkedIn. Not the 'dream job' but you can't have everything.

I added my CV to LinkedIn as a file. My LinkedIn profile is an elaborated version of my CV. It gives you a bit more scope to add detail.
Getting endorsments to your skills gives recruiters confidence in your CV. Lets face it you can write what you like in your CV, but people generally wont endorse you for skills they do not know you have.
I paid to get my cv rewritten (http://secure.cvcentre.co.uk/ref/71011) and they also did my LinkedIn summary and a cover letter. It made me stand out but it was only the information I had given them and 100% accurate.
I know get recruiters contacting me directly through LinkedIn, I have a great interim role and a full time role to go to when this finishes.
LinkedIn is a very powerful tool and it allows recuriters to data mine by skill sets, experince and key words. Big Brother is not just watching anymore.
