Hi does any one know or could advise me on what is the best way to ensure that all persons leaseholders/ tenants are aware of fire procedures. At present we place a fire action notice on each floor should we as a company be doing more. We only look after the common parts would it be best practise to make this leaseholders/ tenants aware and what would be the best way. shaun

My Housing Association clients include instructions in the tenancy packs when they move in and update all of any changes by a specific written note. This includes the rules on storage in the common areas.

We are revisiting this and are looking to what our neighbourhood managers and assistants can do. We put information on our website as well as in tenant manuals but need to consider language and reading skills etc, hence we are looking at many different avenues. If you are on Linked In there are a number of social housing groups that you could join where these things have been discussed and you can get assistance and advice

A letter drop to all tenants and/or a meeting with all concerned to highlight the Fire Procedure.

Have you looked at "Fire safety in purpose-built blocks of flats"? http://www.local.gov.uk/...0180/3369777/PUBLICATION

Do they have tenant/resident groups (perhaps monthly) where h&s/fire can be discussed? Perhaps invite your local fire service to come and talk - that might encourage higher attendance.

Because face to face with opportunity for Q&A is always more effective than leaflet-dropping.
