Hi All,

Usually these are carried out every two years unless any changes have been made to the system. However I believe now there is no need to redo every two years and just review. Does anyone know if this applies to Health Care (not hospitals), mainly health Centres as I cannot find this in the HTM? Thanks

Hi Lesleymc,
Not sure what a water risk assessment is - is it in regards to Legionella - or working in/near water? Maybe a few more details would elicit the response you need?
Cheers

It applies to all healthcare and there has just been a consolidation of the old guide into 04-01A&B allowing to use L8 as the guide for frequency.

It may be a little pedantic I know, but there was never a requirement at all to review or redo assessments every 2 years - simply a recommendation for a minimum frequency of review. Since this led to everyone treating two years as a requirement the HSE have removed it from L8 and given a list of likely triggers for review.

The HTM 04-01 does indeed apply to healthcare, care homes and hospitals but I think you need to bear in mind the risk assessment process depending on the nature of the water use, staff and patients you are considering.

The need to review when necessary remains the legal requirement as per Management Regs and COSHH.

By the way, the new HSG274 Part 2 has a specific 3 page section for Healthcare.
