This is a quote from a document I received from a Building Control inspector relating to a project:

Ensure visual contrast have a difference of 30 points or more in light reflectance value (LRV) has been achieved in the following areas:

a) Door surround v adjacent wall surface
b) Internal door capable of being held open or not self-closing door: leading edge of door v other surfaces of door leaf
c) Switch or control face V background against which it is seen.

Reading this reminded me of the recent thread re wallpapering fire doors.

Nothing at all wrong with that specification - it enables compliance with Building Regulations and provides sufficient contrast for the visually impaired.
