Hi all, I am some clarification on the equivalence of flame retardancy categories between UK and Europe. I have a product a client is hoping to use as a door covering, the product has a flame retardancy rating of B1. Having looked at various sources I am still not 100% certain of whether the two are equivalent or not. I am aware of the Building Reg requirements for the use of Class O wall covering, it is therefore a question of the European standard equivalents. Any assistance and preferably supporting documentation would be appreciated. Thanks Ade

BS EN13501-1 Fire classification of construction products and building elements....Most popular wall coverings will fail at Class B which is supposed to be equivalent to BS Class 0. BS476 has therefore been retained for as long as it takes to resolve this issue...source BCFA.... BS 476: Part 22 Doors = BS EN 1634-1

Not and expert but it looks like you would need to put some intumescent paint on the covering to make it Class 0..you need to talk to than manufacturer...

Thanks Steve, Bit of a funny one I know, I will try the manufacturer for further info, the data sheet states, fire rated B1 which I believe is achieved in accordance with the German Bauregellisten (Building Regs List). I have found another document from Clear Construction which identifies B1 as an equivalent to class 0. I will keep looking for further evidence. Thanks again. Ade
