Does anyone have a template or example letter please? Not needed this for years and mine is in the computer graveyard somewhere. Many thanks.

I have never come across this. We just kept records of who was qualified and allowed to use the FLT, and controlled the keys. End of.

It part of the ACOP that you give permission in writing to your employees to operate a Fork truck. So technically keeping records and controlling the keys isn't enough.

I've got something in archive. I'll see if I can find it over the weekend.

This was news to me so I checked the ACOP and it states "After employees have successfully completed all three elements of training, you should give them written authorisation to operate the lift truck(s) they have been trained to use. You could issue authorisations on an individual basis and/or record them centrally".

So, a central register of who is authorised would do it. I am still compliant.

I have used a central register supported by in date operators card...

Norfolk Boy and Pikeman correct. Thanks to Safety Smurf - great if you can find it.
References are P11 of HSG6, Para 33 and COP26, P7, Para 27, L117P8, Para 45.

Hope this helps.

Dumpey HSG6 is no longer relevant L117 Rider-operated lift trucks -Operator training and safe use ACOP is the latest document you should be referring to

Thanks MEden - you are absolutely right - I was just trying to show some of the other Forum members that the requirement has been around a long time.
