Hi, we have a fleet of vans all with first aid kits fitted. However, our other staff also drive their own vehicles on company business. We have been asked by a member of staff about providing 1 person first aid kits.
Does anyone else do this? Clearly if we do it for one we should be doing it for all.

Hi
We have done this up until this financial year provide kits for all drivers whether they are in their own vehicle, commercial or lease. We stopped this year as we are thinking are they required and then do we need to go down the route of First Aid Training too..........put it this way the kits have been "out of date" for 3 months and we have not yet had one request for new kits!!
This is the first company I have worked for that has supplied the kits!

There is no legal requirement to provide a first aid kit other than your own company risk assessment. Travel on the continent is different and you could say morally it is wrong not to provide it, however In my head right or wrong company vehicle company responsibility - private vehicles used for company business I would only ask them to ensure they had the kit I listed...which would be the same as I provide in a company vehicle...

Our company vans (and the one company car) have first aid kits in them.
We have a 'pool' of first-aid kits including a few 1-person kits that can be taken whenever anyone is out of the office, but they rarely get taken by anyone. I doubt they get taken when people are 'only' driving to a meeting or similar, but they are available.
Personally, I think everyone should have a first aid kit in their car.
