So in the office we have a number of regular computer users who the opticians have now recommended wear glasses to carry out their work. Over the last few months there is a tendency for these employees to put their glasses on for reading at all times with the comment "I can't see without my glasses. Being similarly afflicted I do note the slight magnification applied by the prescription and find it troubling to switch from electronic to hard copy with the frequency that tasks require. Has anyone noticed similar in their organisations? Any specialists like to comment on the thought of changing the screen size as opposed to issuing more prescriptions - IT have kept us in the 20th century with 19" 4:3 ratio displays.

I experienced similar about twenty years ago when my eyes got past their fourtyeth year :-) and I started to need specs for reading, my eye muscles had started slowing down when I changed my gaze from screen in front of me to paper lower down. I did not like wearing one set of specs for reading and another for normal use. I find vary-focals suit me best. Have your people used document holders thatbare positioned alongside the screen? You mention being kept in the 20th century by the IT, do they realise it is well into the 21st century?
