Hi guys,
Anyone knowledgeable with compatible and incompatible activities when we have HPHT drilling&completion, rigs operations and well testing vs platform activities (it is an offshore natural gas processing platform facility) during development drilling phase?
Hope anyone can help me.
Cheer, Ghaz

For info, HPHT drilling is much different from normal drilling well characteristic, and you also may guess from its name that High Pressure and High Temperature. I'm currently developing a so call specific instruction for HPHT drilling simultaneous operations with offshore platform activities, where in there compulsory to include a special matrix of permissible operation (MOPO).

I suggest there isn't a simple answer. All my experience of SIMOPS planning is that you need a representative group to carry out a high-level risk assessment for each separate stage in the HPHT well construction. The extent to which other operations should cease because of potential incompatibilities is very dependent on the exact platform configuration, e.g. separation distances, open or closed working areas, etc.

I suggest it is wrong for a single person to be expected to define the MOPO. In addition to specific risks, something else to consider is the number and range of 'competing' operations. At certain critical points in the HPHT well the platform management team may need to concentrate on that, and so not spend much time on managing other operations. So you may decide to limit the total number of different things going on at those times, as the risk is work overload, rather than incompatible operations.

For sure we're going to have a representative group from Drilling (DS, DSV, Engineers), Construction (Project Mgr, Engineers) and Facilities (Operations Production OIM, Supervisors, Engineers) and HSE. sorry forgot to mentioned this in my earlier post.
What I'm struggling now; being only HSE guy in the Team, I need to assist the Team by raising/highlighting relevant questions/issues for each HPHT drilling sequence till well testing, what are compatibility and non-compatibility issues that we are really need to focus on for the safe HPHT simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
For example, for normal well drilling (not HPHT);
1. Pick up/laydown tubular/equipments (compatible with all platform activities)
2. Drill tophole/diverter (incompatible with hotworks, diving only)
3. Handling diverter, risers and BOP (incompatible with hotwork, production activities, diving, emergency drills, activities on live wells, well tie in only).
4....
5....
.....till wellbore cleanup flow (incompatible with hotwork,crane operations, well tie in, remote venting, diesel bunkering,draining only).

can somesome help me?
