Hi all,

I have landed a new job within the waste industry which is a totally new area for me altogether. I have read up on the HSE web site on their documents with regards to the waste industry and WISH etc.

If anyone works within this industry I would be grateful for any pointers that may help me get my feet on the ground.

Any guidance, sample documents etc would be much appreciated, If you drop me a PM I will provide my email address.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm in the waste industry. We recently had another person join the waste industry a couple of weeks ago. I'll try to help out as much as I can.

I used to be a HSEQ Manager for VT Environmental Engineering, who were gearing up to take on the HWRC's of Wakefield. I had many an issue with the sites, the people and the lack of training these guys had. Unfortunately, the PFI as it was didn't materialise when I was with them and I left for Power Generation. However, my waste background is also with recycling and processing waste.

Let me know if I can help - risk assessment and procedures are key if dealing with the product; oh, and the training of the staff in the right areas. Wakefield had a fatality some years back and we needed to move from that; managers didn't acknowledge the limits of their knowledge or ability, so we had to plan for training!!
