Hi - Whilst social landlords have a duty to provide adequate smoke detectors does anyone know if there is any requirement for these to be tested on a regular basis whilst the tenancy is in place?

It depends where they are:
In communal areas such as escape routes - Yes, they must be tested and maintained
Within private dwellings: No requirement by the landlord, but the tenant often has 'duties' as part of the tenancy agreement, including replacing any batteries when required

No answer from mssy to my request at #3 (perhaps he is on holiday) - therefore can anyone else answer my question please.
