Hi Mike,

I have managed one of these in a previous life and the main point - in line with management of change meetings - was to ensure that everyone was aware of what was going on and to ensure that all the boxes were ticked.

We had an Excel spread sheet with the following:

Date
Name of project owner
Details of change
H&S - Note any concerns
Environmental - Note any concerns
Quality - Note any concerns
HR - Note any concerns
Operational - - Note any concerns
Actions
Date Due
Who
Date Closed out

Hope it helps and it can be a very useful tool

Are your referring to Management of Change (MoC) from a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) etc perspective or is it more general for all manner of business processes /operations?

Considering that you are in Offshore industry, it is likely to be the former. The register will only be a part of the procedure/record.

Some headings that can be included in an HSE MoC are:-

Date of initiation of change & owner
Description of change
Impact of change-the change is communicated and training is provided to affected employees prior to the operation of the facility
Whether change is temporary or permanent
If temporary, when will it cease
Authority for change (Authorisation)
Physical/Onsite confirmation that change was undertaken as specified/designed
Confirmation that facility drawings/plans etc have been updated for the change
date of close out of the change ( after all actions arising have been completed)

Also remember that MoC applies to organisational changes as well. The replies above concentrate on hardware.

Hi Mikeeeeeboy,

I have helped implement a software based MOC system for our site in Shotton North Wales over the last couple of years, we have had interest from other external companies who have visited the site to look at the software and the way in which we use it, without going into all the details, we have delivered training and KPI`s to monitor the system. The key thing is to make sure you have the right triggers to implement the process, things such as key personnel, critical machinery or parts, projects etc etc.

If you are interested in looking at our system contact me on my works email
