Hi All, I need to do a fairly uncomplicated legionella risk assessment but I have never done one before. If anyone is willing to share a template or something I could use as a starting point, I would appreciate it. Many thanks

Hi Happybluebuddha, what do you mean by uncomplicated? Basically I agree with safety dude, it's one of those areas like Fire Risk Assessment where it may well not be as uncomplicated as it looks, but unless you look properly you won't see why not. Pikeman suggests you read L8, and I can't fault him for that, it should give you a clear idea of just what it is you might be taking on. At my last place we had large, complex circulating water supplies with multiple calorifiers, 200 years of chopping the plumbing about in a completely undocumented way and very vulnerable people; about as complex as you can get I think. Our water RA tool was a multi-sheet spreadsheet and took two-three days to complete. At the other extreme we now have a property department in my new place advising small shop premises to check the outlet temperature of point-of-use electric wall mounted water heaters and advise them if it drops below 40!!!!! (I really have to do something about that). Moral is, you really have to know what you are doing or you could end up either killing somebody or creating unecessary work, John

Hi JWK, by uncomplicated I mean that all the pipes that had a potential for stagnant water have been removed. All tanks that need to be chlorinated are regularly chlorinated and all water taps are used on a regular basis. Having read L8, knowing our premises and our engineering department who look after the water system management I am confident that we are in a good place, I'm commissioning some water sampling to be done on a regular basis to prove that. I was mainly after a template for low risk premises. Many thanks
