My company has an office in Dubai and we work in the MENA region frequently. We carry out risk assessments for travel to various countries which include all of the above plus personal security and terrorist threats. Previous comments re: insurance is very important. We had to buy additional kidnap insurance when we were working in Nigeria and had to organise armed security guards for our guys whilst they were working there.

I don't know what your business is, but make all of your potential "Expats" aware of the cultural differences they "Will" be exposed to and how they should present themselves to their host nation, it's all to easy for people to get into trouble out here because they don't appreciate or respect local traditions and values.
