"The 10-week public consultation on the revised CDM Regulations closed on 6 June. Over 1400 responses were received, including a significant number from businesses currently providing Construction Design and Management Consultation (CDM-C) services and from the entertainment and events industry. All the responses are currently being analysed and a paper containing this analysis and recommendations will be provided to the Board on 13 August."

I'm also somewhat puzzled at the reference to "significant number (of responses) from the entertainment and events industry" ?

Afternoon Ron

Educate the uninitiated please - that's me.

Who or Whom is analysing the responses and will produce recommendations etc.

Also, is the analyser's work checked for accuracy / flaws in interpretation - checks and balances (if so by whom) or would this mean the analyses being done twice, therefore the original analyses stands?

Actually, I've just thought that the recommendations would allude to false or bad interpretation of the analyses.

My understanding is that there was a general panic in the events industry that the revision to CDM was a cloak-and-dagger exercise by HSE intent on descending on them all like a tonne of bricks. I think it was partly conspiracy theory / overblown rubbish (a bit like the architects who were proclaiming it was the end of any ability to be creative and all buildings would henceforth be plain rectangular boxes with lots of handrails when CDM first came around), but it presumably woke enough people up that it registered in HSE's response.

See, as two examples:

The August HSE Board Meeting on 13th August is expected to have a Board paper highligting the details of the analysis ( by HSE staff-as they do it for ALL consultations) --watch the space!

All 2014 HSE Board Meeting details so far at:-

achrn: thanks for the references, I was blissfully unaware of the concern generated within that Industry!
rich777: Questions for the HSE I suggest. Personally, I suggest the whole exercise is (more or less) a fait accompli. There's a parent Directive to be implemented here - approximately 25 years late!!!!!
