This year we seem to be struggling finding volunteers and some people are deciding not to renew their FA certs! The monthly fee we pay them is miserly, and not sure that should be the reason for volunteering anyway, but just wondered what other companies pay theirs or how they get people to volunteer? In fact has anyone changed their FA training requirements/courses since the changes in approved courses etc?

This can be a difficult sell, and we also pay a miserly sum, it's by way of a thank you rather than an incentive.
As for an incentive my daughter said that on her first aid course the trainer said that they'd be more likely to use their training on a family member than a work colleague.
That's a pretty compelling argument in my book.

We've had the same problem and as previously mentioned it always helped that when it was explained that these are life skills that can be used outside the work place

My company pays me £12 a month before tax. I don''t so it for the money but for the reasons that the other posters have stated above. Another reason for doing it is for the purpose of employment. Many employers value that you already hold a first-aid certifcate it could be the deciding factor that gets you the job ahead of another candidate

I agree with matelot in his post above. I have 20+ qualified First Aiders in my work area, none of them get any financial benefit for the important role they play, they do it because they are committed and clever enough to know that the firm is giving them an opportunity to gain a valuable qualification that they can use in any situation, not just at work. I have to beat volunteers off with a stick!

We stopped paying 'incentives' for this many years ago.

Like #5 I don't have any problem in getting people to volunteer.

Some might argue that those doing it for the money, are doing it for the wrong reasons.
