We have just set up a room with 30 plus expensive pieces of scientific kit. (Mass spectrometers) and we are discussing what would be the most suitable fire extinguishers. I’d suggest CO2 plus another. What would that other be?

This is an indirect answer based on many years of investigating issues with expensive scientific equipment that I designed. I recommend that you ensure the means of electrical disconnection (plug and socket usually) are easily accessible in the event of something untoward happening. Forget the on off switch can you get at the power supply safely.
Otherwise co2 would be best in terms of recovering the kit.
