I currently works as a CDMC and H&S Consultant. I have nebosh general and construction certs and have almost completed nvq level 5 in occupational H&S. 20 year construction background 10 of those in a H&S capacity.
In light of the proposed changes to the CDM regs next year it is highly likely that I will have to seek alternative employment either inside or outside the construction industry.
In order to improve my employment prospects I am considering either the 18001 lead auditors qual or the IEMA associate certificate. Any opinions on which of these (or other) would be the better option to enhance future job prospects.
Thanks

I'm guessing it'll depend on what type of job you are going to be going for. My advice would be to look at roles you'd be interested in and that available locally and look through the job description and see what qualifications are required for the post and take it from there

Paul,

I'm booked to go on a SHE Auditor's course next year in Colchester which covers 18001 and 14001 (pm me for details if interested), partly because I fancied it and partly because I would like a range of qualifications- problem is having experience to go with it- luckily the company I work for are going for accreditation this year and next so it will fit nicely. I would do as Martin said and look into jobs you would be interested in first- then plan experience/learning to suit.

Hi Jodie (et al)
Without wanting to appear cynical or ungrateful, I am aware of which course to go for for a job I was interested in (ie already have it and/or am studying for it).
What I wanted to know was which course would provide the better scope/prospects for future employment. IE which qual is most sought after. Thanks anyway.

Time is ticking on. Not too good with figures, allergic to cats and tried outdoors work in my youth( freezing in winter, wet in spring and autumn and roasting in summer) so I decided it wasnt for me.
Thanks anyway.
