Site managers / supervisors have SMSTS supervisors qualifications and a range of 'tickets'. The employer is proactive in training staff - would there be any benefit from them doing the NEBOSH Construction Certificate too? (If so what would the benefits be)?
Many thanks.

Its always good to have a skilled and educated workforce in terms of H&S, so any accredited course will be beneficial to the overall risk profile. You might want to discuss this training issue with the businesses broker/insurer and see if they can assist with funding for training and ascertain if there is a business case to have a member of staff complete the NEBOSH Construction Certificate

Thanks Martin, there is no issue with funding, it is just a question of whether there is any benefit of foremen doing the NEBOSH Construction Certificate if they have got SMSTS.

Hi,
Personally I would not put them through the NEBOSH as this is more aimed at Safety Persons. All my Managers and Supervisors all have SSSTS or SMSTS, you could put them on the IOSH course instead of NEBOSH.
Hope this helps!!
Thanks Rob.

Thanks Rob, same question; what, if any, additional benefit would IOSH bring?

Hi Decimomal,
To be honest there is no benefit as they have completed their SMSTS, there is no gain if they have completed this. This is why I would not put any of mine through IOSH or NEBOSH as it is a waste of time and money. They would not learn much more by sitting IOSH.
Cheers Rob.
