I look after 3 commercial kitchens. We have a mixture of standard MK logic accessories mounted flushmon white hygenic surfaces. Flush mounted metal clad on stainless steel cladding Comando plugs and sockets and MK Masterseal sockets for items such as blast freezers etc that need to be pulled out daily for cleaning, with sufficient flex to allow this. We use plugs and sockets as it allows us to wheel items out of a busy kitchen to repair. So MK masterseal and comando sockets for us, depending on the environment. Tony

The regs basically say the equipment installed should be suitable for the environment. So for example if your kitchen has the pot wash spray tap next to a socket outlet that is in use and there is a likely hood of splashes etc. Onto that socket a standard socket would not be suitable A suitable IP rated product should be used.

The Electricity at Work Regs give the legal basis for electrical safety in generic/broad terms. The practicalities are covered for many installation in the IEE Wiring Regs/BSxxxx (forgot the number)
