Please could someone help?

Im interested in becoming a member of IOSH, Im currently taking the Level 5 NVQ Diploma in
Occupational Health and Safety Practice, I have got no formal health and safety qualifications apart from units in my NVQ Level 6 QCF Building & Civil Engineering, I have my SMSTS, CSCS Managers card and many various City & Guilds qualifications.

Would I be considered for membership?

Thanks in-advance

SME Lee welcome to the mad house ;)

I'm sure there will be a place for you, just check out the Membership tab at the top of the page and follow your nose.

Good luck with the NVQ.

SME Lee you can apply for membership without qualifications- to move through the ranks they will want to see experience and qualifications and up to date cv's. Have a look at the membership page and contact the memebrship team and come join us!

Hi Lee. may i enquire whether you currently act in an H&S role... im a bit unsure as to how / why your undertaking NVQ5 OSH as your first H&S qualification?

regards

Pete

Good point, didn't even read that line haha! I thought most providers wouldn't teach it without something like NGC or similar as a starting point?

Hi SME Lee
As the last post recommended check out the membership requirements on this website. There is no problem with applying to join IOSH straight away.
When you complete your NVQ level 5 you may apply for graduate membership of IOSH.
But to apply for grad-IOSH you must be a member and have started your online CPD process - yet again an explanation of this process is outlined on this website.

Good luck-welcome to the club-and plan ahead now

Thanks for the replies,

Pete,

My main role is within construction, but currently and have worked (10 years) within and alongside Construction ESH departments.

Just to let you know, I’m well underway with the NVQ Lvl 5, and look forward to progressing further into the health and safety world.

Yes providers do evaluate your qualifications and experience prior enrolment, and pointed me towards the level 5 based on my current position, experience and delivery.
