Hi All,

I currently have 10 Drums of flammable coating paint which I need to store indoors. I am looking to buy a chemical cabinet(s) in which to store these. What do I need to consider before purchasing?
Does the spill retention sump/bund have to be able to withstand the total contents of the drums which are stored?

These drums are 25L in size.

I am currently looking at Justrite safety cabinets but I am concerned the Bund is insufficient. Any Links or tips would be greatly appreciated.

DSEAR AcoP will give you reference to appropriate standards for storage cabinets. I think you're right on the limit for flammable liquid (and way above that for highly flammable!).
I used to go with 110% of largest container for bund volume?

Hi FF, I do not have knowledge of Irish legislation on this subject which may impose certain standards.

However, I suggest that the cabinet would need to be sufficient to contain the contents of the largest individual container +10%, on the basis that it is possible for one to fail but the likelihood of a multiple failure is so low as to be discounted.
