We have in the warehouse a number of spare fire extinguishers in storage for use on site as and when new projects come online. These are all tested in date and in good condition do we have to put in place any special storage arrangements for them ? My initial thoughts are so long as the pressure reading is in the green, they are stored up right and contained to protect them from any damage they are perfectly safe but have been asked the question so am trying to find out for certain.

I don't see anything wrong in your conclusion on this one. Other than being wall mounted - I don't see any difference whether the fire extinguisher is for use in the warehouse or for storage in the warehouse..? As long as they are in tact and still in the correct 'pressure reading zone' and tested within the previous 12 months - all OK. [Remember to invert powder extinguishers once a month to prevent the powder becoming compacted]. Best regards. Karen

Why shouldn't they be safe? They hang around on walls for years on end - more or less doing what they do now ....

Can you arrange a rotation regime whereby those in use on site go into storage when returned and those in storage go out to site?
I suggest if you can't hang them on their brackets keep them off the floor on pallets, just prevent any corroding.
Karen's powder advice is good.
