That's a very broad question and probably can't be answered in a forum without posting lots and lots of words that probably won't be read. The problem with your question is that first we would need to know if your project is notfiable to the HSE as this would dictate the duty holders which is a whole world of information in itself. Of course there are the specific elements about things like excavations, demolition, explosives etc The legislation can be found here: http://www.legislation.g...i/2007/320/contents/madeBut if you can make your question more specific that might help!

I hate to take over the role of Victor Meldrew but I never cease to be amazed at questions like this coming from an IOSH member. The answer in brief or in depth is cunningly available on the HSE website for anyone who is bothered to make the merest effort to look for themselves. Grump over!

I never cease to be amazed at responses like this in forums like this; it's staggering how easy we get conclusions from limited data. Reflection over! ;)

Indeed, and Ashley above leaps to the assumption that the OP is concerned with a specific Project. But we're only human after all.
Billy, if you're coming to CDM for the first time (via study or whatever) it's likely that you'll also want or need to know about some failry imminent revisions. HSE Consultation pages have detail on proposals for CDM 2014, to be issued April 2015. A search on CDM topics on this Forum, or CONIAC pages on HSE pages, will provide updated info. on results of a recent consultation.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick people are to judge other on their posts...
Perhaps you have jumped to the conclusion but not thinking about where the post has been made - surely a study post would have been made in the study support forum.
Apologies for posting off topic but this sort of attitude towards other peoples posts really makes me angry.

Ashley you seemed to have jumped to the conclusion that everyone who has a question when they are studying will use the study forum. This kind of attitude really annoys me! How mature... Life is full of assumptions, it is impossible to live life without making assumptions. My initial response to the question was appropriate and point I was making with my last post was that everyone has to make assumptions when you do not have the full information. With certain responses from certain people I can clearly see why H&S "professionals" act like jobsworths giving those of us who have a genuine intention to help others a bad name, especially on here. This forum seems to attract a number of those types of people - I won't name names I think anyone reading can clearly see who they are. My apologies to the OP, this thread seems to have been somewhat hijacked by the assumptions H&S police.

It must be Friday again.............
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools..................etc.

But it seems that if you dare to joke the assumption is made that you are a 'jobs worth' apposed to those people who have a real genuine intention to help others.
