Big shutdown at work is coming up. An energy from waste plant is getting the superheater tubes replaced and a lot of other work in a proposed 4 week shutdown (just under 30 days).
The amount of man hours will be total over 500 hours.
I've been through all of the regs and looked at what we are doing and compared it to whether CDM apply. My answer is YES it does because we are: Going over 500 man hours, dismantling a large piece of stand alone equipment and carrying out extensive maintenance on the plant.....
Would someone be able to confirm if this is notifiable or not?

As far as I am concerned, yes of course CDM applies.
I think what you are actually asking is, is this a notifiable project under CDM? To which I believe it is!

You need to address this with the person who has commissioned the work as they may be putting the company at high risk and yes its CDM and it may be notifiable however notifiable or not the law that requires adequate management still applies
Asbestos: whilst asbestos my not be present noting the type of plant it is; it is still a consideration to be evaluated

I recently had a contractor build an extension at home and he employs female decorators. He had a portaloo on site, in my front drive and I may have pulled him up for having only one toilet but when the ladies were on site there was no one else.

If he got two on site then more the fool him for paying for things that are not always required.
