hi folks

I am doing a bit of research on the certificate of pallets coming in from other countries. If a pallet isn't stamped, does anyone know what should be done with it please?

regards

What does the stamp prove?
Just that the pallet user has access to a stamp

Sorry but I'm a bit cynical about anyone (where there is money to be made) "sticking to the rules"

These we are not just rules for the sake of it. Anymore than Health and Safety is ‘elf and safety’. The rules are intended to prevent the import of plant diseases and plant pest such as Asian Long Horn beetle. Importing items without the appropriate phytosanitary certificate is a criminal offence.

Interesting link. Also suggest looking at "The Plant Health for Importers" link on the right of the page.

Para 13 says "13. In general, all the plants and some categories of plant products that are permitted to enter England and Wales from countries outside the EU must be accompanied by a phytosanitary ("plant health") certificate. In broad terms this includes all major fruit (other than bananas and grapes), cut flowers, some seed and leafy vegetables and potatoes from a limited number of countries."

No mention of cut timber anywhere that I can see ....
