Hi, Is anyone aware of any successful claims / cases regarding eyesite degredation following mandatory wearing of eye-wear?

Never seen it in 27 years working for various EL insurers as a claims person and latterly a risk surveyor. Why do you ask?

Great, thanks for your replies. Someone had mentioned a large house building company as having had a claim against them for something similar.

I suppose it is possible if the employee needed prescription eyewear and the employer refused to provide prescription eye PPE or something compatible with the existing eyewear. Could be interesting in terms of causation as well. With hearing we can differentiate between NIHL and age related. Not sure if that is possible with eyesight.

Ask your optician (next time you have an eye test) if they think "eyestrain" can damage the eyes
