I have a question about using noise measurements for selecting ear defenders. Although I have done the noise comptetent person training it's been a while and I am unsure about use of OBA. The issue is, if I am measuring someone's exposure across several different tasks, whilst I know how to work out the LEPd, what do I do about the OBA? Do I take the values from the greatest LAeq?

www.hse.gov.uk/noise/hearingcalc.xls Bang your results for each task into the 3rd tab with your hearing protection attenuation, should help. If your green for each task then no problem, if your red for one, consider (depending on reason) changing your protection for different attenuation
