I am updating my companies 'Fatal Accident Protocol' and am looking for advice on the bit about liaising with the deceased's family, especially if it is an employee. HSE/Police etc. don't have anything I can find. I'd appreciate anything you might have, eg. Who visits the family, do they go alone, is it personal or procedural, do they go with the Police / Police family liaison etc? thanks - Happy Christmas!

PM your email and I'll send our fatality procedure over, you can pull what you need from it :) Alan

We are instructed that this is totally an HR procedure and duty and no one else should get involved

Hi Hopeful, this is fine if your company has a robust HR team, not all companies have this though. Our company is light on HR so I help fulfil this role as required, including the development of employee fatality policy/procedures, I am guessing DFH is in a similar position to me. Hopefully the effectiveness of this policy will never require testing! Alan

We are not a large company so SHE, HR, etc are able to work closely together on protocols. I' d be interested in your HR procedure if you're able to share. ta
