A poignant reminder. I cannot believe it was 30 years ago, next year. The video still sends a shiver down my spine!.....RIP. http://www.ifsecglobal.c...stadium-fire-remembered/

Thanks Chas, if thanks is the right word... I haven't seen the video for some time, and it's a very good reminder of why, in fire safety, the only bit that really counts is not having the fire in the first place. I just hope this never happens again, John

Others the police – demonstrating a level of incompetence seen again four years later in the Leppings Lane stand at Hillsborough – actually ushered to the exits at the rear of the stand – to their doom. The rear exits, the police hadn’t realised, had actually been boarded up or padlocked' I have just copied and pasted the above quote from the link posted previously. I have watched the video footage on many occasions and did a study into this for my NEBOSH Diploma many years ago. Please excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong, but from my recollection of the video the police ushered the fans to the front towards the pitch and not to the rear of the stand (how could they the fire was in that area). The Police did a marvelous job given the circumstances on the day, one officer of which I remember his hair catching fire trying to rescue people. It wasn't the Police's incompetence that the fire started in the first place or that the gates were locked. It seems to me this report has some inaccuracies, in which I find sad. RIP the victims.

The article is an absolute disgrace I don't know who this idiot is has he actually read any of the true reports! You cannot compare Bradford City and Hillborough! If I put my true feelings about this article I would be banned from this site! Brain - Bradford City Season Ticket holder.

I don't think anyone would mind you venting/ranting or screaming a little Brian. Sometimes it is the only way to show the true depth of feeling and get some sort of peace.

This was a year before I was born but as a Lincoln City fan I do show my respects every year to the 56 who lost their lives, and I know people who were there that day, the stories are horrifying. RIP to the 56

The event was horrific, as is the video. It does not need inaccurate and sensationalist journalism and maybe the link should be removed.

I have never seen this video before but it really does go to show how vicious fire is and how quickly it can spread. I have to say I think the police (from what I can see in the video) responded very well. My thoughts go out to those families still affected.

'Others the police – demonstrating a level of incompetence seen again four years later in the Leppings Lane stand at Hillsborough – actually ushered to the exits at the rear of the stand – to their doom. The rear exits, the police hadn’t realised, had actually been boarded up or padlocked.' Got as far as that in the article and gave up, lack of incompetence by the person writing the article doesn't help either. As said already, Bradford Fire and Hillsborough two completely different situations and in fact two different Police Forces. If the person who wrote the article wants proper info on Hillsborough i'd be happy to assist as he is clearly not clued up on that either, as it wasn't just the terraces that were the issue, it was also outside in the turnstyle area leading into the stadium which led to even more crushing inside due to incompetence from 'some' of the police that day. And to blame the Police for ushering people to locked exits is beyond reprehension.
