Beware when quoting page numbers from L144 that the differnet editions changed the page breaks. In my paper L144, page 98 is the list of revocations... Anyhow, if referring to the latest (I think) revision, that's just the competence criteria appendix. I'm not sure what a CDM policy would be ("we hereby promise to obey the law, even cdm"?), but I don'ty think the competence assessment would be a CDM policy. Jez, in what situation do you need a CDM policy?

achrn, I'm referring to the pdf pages
On page 98 there's a table starts with
H&S Policy: You are expected to have and implement an appropriate policy, regularly reviewed, and signed off by the Managing Director or equivalent. The policy must be relevant to the nature and scale of your work and set out the responsibilities for health and safety management at all levels within the organisation.
Arrangements: These should set out the arrangements for health and safety management within the organisation and should be relevant to the nature and scale of your work. They should set out how the company will discharge their duties under CDM2007. There should be a clear indication of how these arrangements are communicated to the workforce.
then Competent advice – corporate and construction-related
etc etc
and goes on to give examples of evidence you might need to include etc etc

The pdfs of L144 that have been up at various times have different page numbers too. However, isn't that just a company health and safety policy? As you quote, it is titled 'health and safety policy", not 'cdm policy'. We have a passing reference to cdm in our H&S policy ("It is the policy of xxx: ... To recognise its obligations to meet all relevant legislative requirements pertaining to health and safety, including the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007 and the relevant statutes and regulations applicable in other legal jurisdictions which apply to any of the firm’s undertakings. "). We also have procedures - we are designers, so have a 'CDM Designer's Duties' procedure and a 'CDM Coordinator Appointments' procedure, but no specific CDM policy, so I couldn't submit 'a CDM policy'. Subject to the same client hoop, I'd probably submit the H&S policy and the relevant procedures. Our relevant procedures is more than just the two noted above - CDM is noted explicitly, for example, in our training procedure (it's one of the standard must-have suite of topics all our designers go through).

achrn, jaz, Yes the 'policy' in my web copy of L144 p98-102 is guidance/template for an H&S policy but I thought it fitted what jez needed, as the template refers to CDM throughout and aims to guide you towards demonstrating a policy of CDM compliance. Section 10 for example is Quote:Hazard elimination and risk control (designers only) You should have, and implement, arrangements for meeting your duties under regulation 11 of CDM2007. Evidence showing how you: ensure co-operation and co-ordination of design work within the design team and with other designers/contractors; ensure that hazards are eliminated and any remaining risks controlled; Ensure that any structure which will be used as a workplace will meet relevant requirements........ Section 11 says Quote:Risk assessment leading to a safe method of work (contractors only) etc etc Section 14 is for CDM-C Quote:CDM co-ordinator’s duties. You should be able to demonstrate how you go about encouraging co-operation, co-ordination and communication between designers...... JohnW
